Job Description

Manual QA Engineer

The Company

They are the first and largest peer-to-peer marketplace for laundry. Their customers tap the app and outsource their laundry. For them, it’s life without laundry, because we hacked it out of existence. They have solved a second problem too, which is that more and more people of varying backgrounds want to work from home. Luckily most people have an underutilized washer/dryer, which when combined with our Pro app, provides the first-ever manual labor work-from-home gig in the world. For all users, they are the marketplace for a better life.

What you will do

You won’t just test features—you’ll obsess over every detail, stress-test the product, and ensure every user interaction is smooth, intuitive, and bug-free. Your mission: deliver the highest possible quality of our web and mobile apps by putting every release through rigorous manual testing. You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to create flawless user experiences. If something breaks, you’ll catch it first.

How You’ll Leave Your Mark

  • Be the last line of defense: Execute manual tests across devices and platforms to ensure the app performs beautifully under real-world conditions.

  • Hunt down glitches: Log and track issues using defect management tools, following each bug through to resolution.

  • Write the playbook: Create and maintain clear, detailed test cases, plans, and scripts—your documentation will be your legacy.

  • Zoom in, zoom out: Balance big-picture business goals with precision in every UI detail, ensuring all elements meet expectations and acceptance criteria.

  • Think like a user: Conduct exploratory, functional, regression, and usability testing that mimics real user behavior.

  • Collaborate like a pro: Work alongside developers, designers, and product managers to clarify features and user interactions—QA is a team sport.

  • Recreate the mystery: Set up test environments and reproduce bugs reported by users—Sherlock Holmes would be proud.

  • Make it better: Provide feedback not just on bugs, but on how features are built, shipped, and quality-tested from the ground up.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in manual software testing.

  • Deep understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.

  • Proven experience testing web and mobile apps across multiple browsers and devices.

  • Ability to write effective, concise test cases and documentation.

  • Proficiency in defect tracking tools such as Jira, Trello, or ClickUp.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams, where priorities shift and speed matters.

  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for pixel-perfect execution.

  • Solid analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Experience with test case management tools like TestRail, Xray, or Zephyr.

  • Basic knowledge of APIs and NoSQL (bonus).

  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and thrive in fast-paced environments.

  • Availability for a 9 AM Central Time standup, with at least five hours of overlap in CST.

Bonus Points If You Also Have

  • Interest in automation testing, with exposure to Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.

  • Passion for improving processes, systems, and team collaboration.

  • Curiosity about performance and API testing, even if you’re just starting out.

Why You’ll Love Working with Us

  • Join a team that thrives on innovation and disruption—no “business as usual” here.

  • Your work will be noticed and celebrated—you’ll directly impact our products and users every day.

  • Enjoy flexibility—work when and where you’re most productive.

  • Be among the first employees at a high-growth startup.

  • Play a critical role in building Our Client from the ground up—shaping its culture, core values, hiring decisions, and operational processes.

  • Experience unlimited growth opportunities as the company scales.

  • Work in a mission-driven environment that prioritizes community impact.
