Job Description Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior RF Engineer to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida. The Junior RF Engineer supports the design, installation, and maintenance of radio frequency (RF) systems to sustain USSOUTHCOM's mission-critical communications infrastructure. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with foundational knowledge of RF systems who are eager to build hands-on experience supporting military, satellite, or wireless communication networks. Responsibilities: * Assists in configuring and optimizing RF equipment, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and satellite communication systems * Conducts signal testing, frequency analysis, and interference mitigation to enhance system performance and reliability * Assists in troubleshooting and resolving RF-related issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers * Works with spectrum management tools and RF propagation modeling to support operational planning and network optimization * Performs routine system inspections, documentation, and inventory management to support lifecycle maintenance and compliance with DoD regulations * Responds to Tier 1 and Tier 2 service requests, assisting with RF system configurations, testing, and security patching * Supports RF expansion projects, including system upgrades, spectrum allocation, and integration with emerging communication technologies * Assists in security assessments, performance monitoring, and compliance audits to align with risk mitigation, cybersecurity, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies * Collaborates with IT and network teams to enhance RF communication reliability and operational effectiveness Required: * Highschool diploma or equivalent * 0-3 years of experience in RF engineering, telecommunications, or signal analysis * Familiarity with basic RF concepts, modulation techniques, and communication theory * Willingness to travel to support fieldwork or test events Desired: * Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related field * Familiarity with spectrum management and interference mitigation techniques * Experience using RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators) * Basic knowledge of SATCOM, UHF/VHF, and microwave systems * Understanding of DoD or NATO communication protocols and security requirements * Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment * Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA) * CompTIA Network+ * Vendor-specific training Clearance: * TS/SCI clearance required Certification: * DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role * CompTIA Security+ * FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or equivalent Compensation: * Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position.
