Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Aircraft Electricians perform routine disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance of aircraft electrical systems. This role is based at a Depot Level repair facility working on aircraft such as H-60, F/A-18, E-2/C-2, H-1, and F-35. Military aviation experience is a plus.
DUTIES
Correct minor discrepancies by removing, repairing, or replacing defective circuits, wires, connectors, control units, plugs, switches, circuit breakers, relays, and other electrical components.
Perform functional checks on electrical systems, equipment, wiring, and cables using meters, bridges, meggers, and specialized test sets.
Conduct final functional and operational tests on complex electrical systems and components under actual or ground power, including systems like automatic flight control, armament, landing gear, and power distribution.
Work from technical publications, drawings, schematics, and layouts.
Set up and operate computer-controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) for diagnostics and system checkouts.
Utilize various electrician's hand tools and testing equipment.
Work is reviewed by supervisors or quality control inspectors for conformance to standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least three (3) years of relevant experience as an Electrician.
Experience with Aircraft Electrician H-60 is preferred.
Ability to read technical publications, schematics, and specifications.
Proficiency with equipment like meters, bridges, meggers, harness testers, oscilloscopes, etc.
Up to 25% travel may be required.
Must be a US citizen.
Must have or be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to walk, stand, crawl, kneel, and bend on various surfaces.
Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Handle objects, use finger dexterity, and reach above/below shoulders.
Lift up to 40 pounds; sometimes over 50 with assistance.
Good vision to read gauges, small objects, and hand tools.
Ability to communicate verbally and hear.
Distinguish shades, judge depth.
Operate vehicles and machinery as needed.
Environmental Factors
Work indoors and outdoors around machinery, vehicles, and aircraft fluids.
Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, grease, oil, fumes, and solvents.
Work on slippery or uneven surfaces.
Work alone or with others, with possible irregular hours.
